Approaches

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

    This is a type of psychotherapy in which negative and unhealthy thought patterns about the self, others and the world are challenged with the goal of altering to healthier and more positive thought patterns. This will assist in the prevention of future unwanted behavior patterns. It is also utilized to treat mood disorders such as depression.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

    This is an evidence-based psychotherapy that initially started with a goal to treat personality disorders as well as interpersonal conflicts. Since, there has been evidence that DBT can be useful in treating various mood disorders, suicidal ideation, emotional regulation as well as change in behavioral patterns such as self-harm and substance use.   • Reality Therapy

    This type of therapy generally focuses on the here-and-now actions of the individual as well as their ability to create and choose a better future. Typically, individuals get to discover what they really want and how to behave in order to achieve these goals versus how they are currently choosing to behave. Reality therapy ultimately focuses on realism, responsibility, and right-and-wrong, as opposed to focusing on diagnoses and symptoms of mental disorders. Personal accountability for positive and negative choices is often considered a primary goal of reality therapy.

    A style of therapy that is known for its holistic view on the human condition. Ultimately, Existential Therapy tries to help individuals find unique meaning and purpose in their lives; It seeks to end fear of the unknown. Furthermore, it actively encourages patients to use their capacity to make choices and develop their lives as a way to maximize their reason for being and existing.
